🙂 Obedience

obediencia

You may be wondering at this point, what does obedience have to do with success and personal empowerment? Almost all of us want to be successful in our lives in some way or another, but not all of us are willing to pay the price.

Some aim to be recognized and famous, others want to have wealth and abundance, others aim to have a solid career to help hundreds or thousands of people. Others long to have a happy family and live in peace, others see themselves traveling, sharing, learning and growing spiritually every day and others want the whole package.

What are you aiming for? ✅

When we are told about achieving success, we usually like to be told about powerful values such as passion, empowerment, focus, motivation, inspiration and focused action. This is why it is strange when within that group of powerful values they mention one who seems like the rejected child in the class, either because it is misunderstood or because it is different.

If you believe that obedience does not fit with conventional values of success, let us show you that this is a principle that many, by not taking into account, are falling into failure again and again.

Do you know what Intellectual Egocentrism is?

Within developmental psychology, it is said that this It is a normal characteristic within the stage of adolescence. That is to say; All people, to a lesser or greater degree, go through the firm belief that only we are right, or that only our causes are just and are the ones that count above the perception and causes of others. Sadly, there are some cases of people who never get over it, but unfortunately stay thinking like this for the rest of their lives, without even being aware of it.

In this line of thought, the opposite of intellectual egocentrism would be to accept that the other may be right, that they can do it better than us and that they can help us achieve it in less time and with fewer twists and turns.

🎁 Obedience is letting ourselves be guided to achieve it in less time and with fewer failures.

This belief also leads us to think that unfavorable situations happen to others, but not to us. This is why the young man believes himself to be immortal and needs high doses of adrenaline flowing through his veins to feel alive., and it is not without reason that statistically the people who practice extreme sports the most are between 18 and 30 years of age. Another of the common features of this stage of Intellectual Egocentrism is the rebellion, which is hated by some, but loved by others.

Within the context of health we could say that certain levels of rebellion are positive for the individual and society, because it allows us to get away from the status quo, from the system established to discover our autonomy and explore other unknown terrains where we can discover transcendental and transformative experiences.

But we can also recognize that there is a hermetic rebellion that does not recognize, much less accept, other perspectives, possibilities or new levels of psychological maturity beyond egocentric thinking.

Along these same lines, if what I want is to achieve my goals in my own way, there is no room for obedience. Simply because since I believe that my way of doing things is correct, any suggestion or instruction will seem to me to go against what I understand and have determined.

On the other hand, I will see that foreign form as an attempt to force me, submit me, suppress my autonomy, destroy my creativity and limit my spontaneity.

One of the worst enemies of success is self-sufficiency., which refers to the false belief that we can do everything alone and without anyone's help.

Obedience is having the humility of children again.

We need to go back to being like children. Obedience is not submitting, but rather giving honor and being humble to learn from the process. In other words; “He who is not a good disciple cannot be a good teacher.”

obediencia

Generally in Western countries we don't like having to obey. This is a little or very different in Eastern countries where values such as honor are highly respected.

⚠️ Obedience? Why is it so difficult for us to obey?

It may be because the authority figures we had as children or young people, such as our parents or teachers, demanded a lot but did not set a good example. This could have caused us to become disappointed in every authority figure and make the decision to never again have a leader or role model to follow., but we decided to become our own reference. Or perhaps it could be that we don't like having to obey because this would mean having to engage in monotonous and boring activities, and cut out all the exciting and fun activities from our lives.

We know people who quit their jobs because they felt pressured and bored. And although there are cases in which there is real labor abuse, we are not referring to this situation, but to normal conditions within the work area, such as having to comply with an established schedule, having to obey an authority figure, having to bend our will to the company's objectives, etc.

Maybe in these cases we are only seeing the negative side of the coin, but here in EQ Mentors we invite you to ask yourself What if we stop for a moment and look at the positive side?? We may find that these and similar functions are actually testing us within a learning process to teach us intrinsic values such as punctuality, honor, commitment, etc. Curiously, these are values and principles that cut across economic, personal, business and spiritual success.

“I am going to be humble and faithful to the process, although sometimes I want to do it my way”

🔸 Do you get the point?

Imagine that success has several stages and Each stage, like a video game, has several objectives or immovable requirements that we must meet to move to the next level.. Something similar happens with the success process. When you start to explore it you will encounter certain obstacles, some easier and others more difficult to overcome.

The problem is that many people get frustrated and end up discouraged when faced with the first obstacles and look for a way to avoid it. Sometimes they can manage to skip some phase of the process, but then they realize later that the process is not stupid, and the alarms go off until they finally catch it and return it to the point where it skipped one of the immovable objectives.

In the following video we will see in a comical but at the same time tragic way, what are the consequences of breaking the rules of life. Do you think this video leaves us any lessons? Which?

✅ A real case

In this case the process is telling you something like: “You need to learn to overcome that obstacle because within it there is a great treasure or gift for you.”. We know several people who are going through similar processes, one of them said: “this last year has been difficult for me because I was used to being an authority for others and not having any authority above me. But God and life have put me in this position, with a boss very similar to me, and I have managed to understand that I needed to learn and strengthen values such as humility, patience, obedience and subjection at his side.“.

🔸 And he kept saying...

“Today I leave this job happy for a better opportunity. I feel like I grew a lot as a human being. And none of this could have been possible if I had been rebellious and had given up on the process at the first difficulties. In fact, from Now I am sure that I will apply these teachings to my new projects"I will even have a different attitude when coordinating the equipment they give me to be in my charge."

obediencia

“Today I understand that I need help, to abide by the rules and obey the instructions of another with more wisdom and experience than me. This is something invaluable, and although at first it was hard, difficult, uncomfortable, Today I see it as a great opportunity to put myself to the fire and continue maturing...

“… Today I see it as a great opportunity to shape my character, connect with others, increase my level of leadership and influence and grow on a personal and professional level.”

🏆 Sensible parents

We have heard sensible parents who say: “I want my son to have companies that generate wealth and satisfaction. But I also want them to have a job first. so that they learn to be responsible and value people and the effort involved in starting from scratch and so later they can put themselves in the place of others.”

At this point, do you think that rendering obedience and honor is a foolish thing to do, or on the contrary, do you think it is a good decision for your personal and professional growth?

Do you think you have a heart that has been more or less rebellious until now? Do you think that this rebellion has prevented you from moving forward in one or several areas of your life? What do you realize regarding the process of success? Do you think the process wants to tell you something with this teaching? What can you do starting today to use this success value called Obedience to your advantage?

And to finish for today...

Today life is giving you a new opportunity to increase your levels of clarity, obedience and empowerment. Take advantage of each day to work on your inner game and thus increase the chances of winning your outer game.

I hope you have a great day!
